Organizing update.... way behind...

Well, here it is.. some more before/after pictures. I do apologize-- the pictures arnt the best due to space issues.... but hopefully the point is made :) The first was from last week before Caroline got hit with the plague again-- I swear its been never ending... and I tackled her room closet.... no pictures of her WHOLE room at the moment, as she is in the process of playing/dumping out toys as we speak :) But for her closet I pulled out all the clothes... filled three totes of to small/winter stuff.... bag count would be 1 for the thrift store and 1 for garbage.. but really, Im not even focusing on the 40 so much anymore-- just doing it- and I plan on continuing after Easter-- nothing is safe!!! :D I organized her stuff by type and color... skirts/dresses/long sleeve/short sleeve.... her dresser is done to...
I think I have a problem.. all my pictures have been of spaces with things falling out, yikes...



And the finished product! I took the doors off and stored them under her bed, it has been bothering me that I can only see half her closet at a time, I plan on hanging a rod and some sort of curtain and curtain hold backs so I can close it if wanted, I have a vision in my head... hopefully it works out as cute!
The bookshelf to the left of her closet was also on my "list"- I took it from our living room and added it to her room, when I cleaned it off, I added another bag of books that are going to the thrift store and another that will go back to respective family members, on the bottom shelf which you cant see at the moment, I put two cloth square baskets that will hold dress up clothes. :)

Today I tackled the linen closet.. thanks to my mom's inspiration pictures she sent me :) I took EVERYTHING out and put it on our bed, and vacuumed the carpet in there. Seriously, think something like AA for closet hoarders needs to help me :)
And again the finished product! Another bag for the thrift store and one for garbage! What you cant see is that the laundry hamper that was burried is now visible and being used, wahoo!

Its been ONE week...

Im still a day behind, but I made myself finish today- and I got three "days" done that I had on my list... I'll have to look tomorrow, maybe Im not behind anymore :) Without further ado.. I took pictures to!
This is our snack cupboard before... I threw out one box out of here... lots of random, empty boxes, expired things, gross... this is the after! Its still pretty full, but the top shelf is misc. small appliances, beer bread in a bottle and sparkling grape juice, second shelf is cupcake supplies and sprinkles, and bottom is snacks!
Next up is our tupperware cupboard... you know the one that everything falls out when you open it... I actually went through this tonight because I bought a new rubbermaid set that was on sale at Target, we hardly had anything left that was matching...


The end result was a whole bag of lids that have one week to find a home or they are going in the trash, sorry hunny :) This next picture is just to show that I did throw out a box of boxes/old food and lids!!!


Next I did the pots and pans cupboard, this is another one where things tend to just fall out on me... yikes.. I used a basket for lids and tried to stack things more by size/type.. pans, kettles, etc... this was an after... not sure why I didnt take a before... On these cupboards I had already done a "home area" which eventually I'd like to put bills, etc, and the counter part on the bottom is free reign for Caroline, she has baskets of stuff that has to stay at the table (usually... ;) ) pony beads, playdoh, etc... I also organized my cookbook/coffee space, didnt take pictures of that one either, but nothing really got thrown away, just organized... the last space.. which I would usually say-- "HOLY CRAP close the door and IGNORE!"


And the finale... I FEEL SO much better! Tonight... four bags!!!!!!!! The vacuum even has a home!

40 Bags in 40 Days challenge... update #2

I really want to keep updating and hopefully tonight I can take some pictures, the yuck/crud whatever you call it has been going through our house so my 40 days has not been going as strongly as I hoped. Just might have to go a few days past Palm Sunday- regardless it feels AWESOME.. I even have my mom on board.. *waves* hi mom! So I skipped day 3 due to the flu... and moved on to day 4 and 5.. which actually ran me into day 6.. which was our master bedroom. I am hoping to take some pictures tonight, honestly did not want to post befores, it was THAT bad. But now it looks pretty good... From this room I took two bags to the thrift store .. one which I dropped off at Herberger's for the Goodwill Sale and actually used my coupons to buy new running shoes, thrift? Repourposing? I dont know, cant pass up a good coupon! :) And I also took 3 bags to the garbage.. not huge.. 1 was regular size and two were target bags, but still yuck... I still need to tackle the sock basket and our closet at some point.... but at least its clean/dejunked :) Tonight I plan on tackling two sets of cupboards, hopefully catch myself back up... pictures... ARE on my list..

Well, I did it! I started on Wednesday and it took me two days, but the first room on my list is done.. I didnt take any "before" pictures of this room, but I will try to tonight of my next item on my list... so excited to have found http://whitehouseblackshutters.com! I think I even have my mom on board! I will post pictures of the "after" of the room after I get the bed made tonight... Emily is on her way to Fargo, so I have to redo the bed after I've been camped out there for the past week or so while the yuck has been going around....
